Hi folks.
Here the last work. Quite happy with the “sketch look” I wanted to break my usual “flat western airbrush finish”.
This kind of painting is way more fun, that’s also way quicker and closer to Yokoyama Sensei awesome work. Thanks to Lincoln Wright for pushing me in this kind of painting.
All the weathering is done with oil paints.
The Base coat is Vallejo Black Primer airbrushed on the whole. Then I’ve hand painted Vallejo Feldgrau on the suit, using a permanent wet brush, working a wet on wet way to keep very thin layers of colors. That’s a completely different technic than you could use with Gaïa or Mr.Hobby paints. Just because laquers are very strong paints.
Hi friends,
I got this Melusine hull built for months, and at this time I replaced the regular arms by H1 arms and claws, to try kinda “frankenstein” Mel that could have been realized by a Shutoral field workshop.
Of course I was also really inspired by Turner’s work on his great Glöckner N.W. (http://maschinenkrueger.com/forum/index.php?topic=5571.0)
Then I forgot it in a box and 3 days ago while cleaning my workbench I thought it could be great to finish it.
But I was really anxious to paint and didn’t want to spend time on sculpting legs joint cover + wire it up and all the 3Q-related work so I’ve built one of my spare ketzer legs to put under the Mel hull.
I was a bit worried by the size difference but finally it proves that there’s no real matter with it.
Here the pics :
Joint covers and weldingwork is Greenstuff. I’ve destroyed the engine mesh cover to improve the battle weary look and omitted some sensors.
There are some more details to add then painting!

Sorry I did not make In progress pics, but I thought I should share the last texture experiment.
The heavy cardboard is first coated with 2 coats of gesso, then textured with a sponge, a cutted brush and a tissue.
Following this, the whole is painted with Vallejo Grey primer, a nice, strong and simple basecoat to experiment further.
I’ve applied a light Vallejo black filter on the whole, then insisted with a black wash on particular areas, to give more depth.
Time to blend some white, grayish and buff tones on the thing, with wet on wet Vallejo acrylics and some very light drybrush on some spots.
Then, some scratches are done using MIG white pigments.
Some wood weathering work using acrylics & Tim Holtz distressed paints.
I found em pretty nice to use, some nice random effects sometimes happen when using this paint.

Another groundwork, still in progress. Industrial disused places are my main inspiration for groundworks, and this one makes no exception.

Here’s my last groundwork.
Scratchbuilt palm logs & bamboos. Kamizukuri leaves. All the earth & mud effects are realized with AKinteractive products, microballoons, plaster and roots.
Now I have to work on 1/35 Hasegawa Melusinen to go with.
This place is about my modelling works and my interest in the Maschinen Krieger Serie by japanese artist Yokoyama Sensei.
You’ll find here in progress works, step by step articles and modelling tips, mainly about Ma.K models and groundwork modelling.

Have a great day.
